Needle felting is the art of sculpting wool into 3D shapes using a special barbed needle, which binds the fibres together. Each bird begins life as a ball of wool roving. My birds can take from 5 to 15 hours to make, with love being poured into each and every one.

My name is Aimee, and I live on a narrowboat, aptly named The Robin's Nest, based on the Ashby Canal in rural Leicestershire with my scruffy dog, Jingle. I create needle felt bird sculptures from my floating home, along with an array of other little felted creations, from bumble bees to butterflies. I teach workshops at the amazing Squirrel at Wellsborough, a local venture which offers an array of rural crafts and experiences. I have been needle felting since 2003 and began selling my creations after having to give up work due to health issues. My little business built up very slowly from there to become what it is today.
